A Microfiche Machine That Creates Digital Files

A microfiche machine can be described as a tool to view information from microfiche cards. One type of microfiche machine works by means of projection. In fact a microfiche viewer does exactly that. You place one microfiche cards under a glass, and a light bulb helps project the information to a screen in from of the microfiche machine. This magnified projection is large enough for you to be able to read the information.

Another type of microfiche machine called a microfiche scanner, will also work towards making the information readable, but instead of a projection process, this microfiche machine works by scanning the microfiche card and creating a digital image of each document in the microfiche card.

There are many advantages for using this scanning microfiche machine. For example, if you have the images digitized with the scanning microfiche machine and store the images on your computer, then you can view the information as many times as you want without having to touch the microfiche cards again. Images created with this microfiche machine can be sent a picture files, over the internet and can also be shared over a network.

Many organizations that store their data in microfiche cards, are required to use viewing microfiche machines and spend lots of time and effort maintaining and protecting the microfiche inventory, as well as  trying to keep them from getting scratched or lost.
